I’m sorry, but this is the most hypocritical garbage i’ve read in a long time. You clearly are left-leaning, and that is certainly fine. and i’m glad you are interested and passionate about politics and your government. however, do you not remember the last eight years preceding obama’s presidency? when every time you turned the t.v. on or read the newspaper or opened the internet all you saw was complete character assasination and disrespect towards george bush, which i’m sorry but he didnt deserve all the time. obama’s presidency has been a cakewalk so far compared to the terrible scrutiny and disrespect that several presidents, especially bush, preceding him have had to endure. and not only that, but obama and his administration still dig at the bush administration now, and he’s not the one in office. i wish they would push through this “change and hope” instead of just sitting around blaming the bush administration for their problems and start fixing things. and not have supporters like you blind yourself to what really is going on.

Yah well, the whole planet suffered as a result of the ultra right wing agenda run amuck. Canada is just another extension of the corporate mania that befell the planet for the last 10 years. The world bought it and rode that sucker straight into a worldwide recession. Yehah, cowboys screwing the planet. I can’t believe that I actually lived long enough to witness that.

WWhat bothers me the most:
(1) Is the fact that Sanford went AWOL for a week without anyone knowing where he really was.

(2) For God’s Sake he had the nerve to use Tax Payers money.

(3) He was investigated by SLED which is a buddy of his…so of course Sanford paid the money back and says that is all that was used. What I say to M. Sanford is BS. You crooked rattlesnake you’re A*** needs to be hung out to dry.

I was once a Republican but I want be the next time when I go to vote. Our Legislatures that are Republicans must have been paid off by Sanford. I can truly say that we the Voters of SC need to know who are Republican Senators, Congressmen/Women etc are and not put them back into office when we go to vote. Evidentially they are too stupid to read and understand their emails that they were getting from people like me & too stupid to read the polls that WIS & WLTX had up because then they would know that about 70%+ of the votes were for M. Sanford to resign and since he does not have enough sense that God Gave a Monkey’s But to do that then it’s up to the people we elected to take matters to their own hands and get him the Heck out of Office by impeaching him. We need to put people in office you are really looking out for the people of SC and not what’s in it for them and making their pockets richer. M. Sanford needs to be investigated by and outside source and NOT with people inside the State. Now SC is officially known as the Blooming Idiot State instead of the Palmetto State. LETS ALL STAND TOGETHER AND REPLACE EVERY REPUBLICAN IN OUR LEGISLATIVE and this will show them they can’t push the TAXPAYER’S around any more. People we are in control and Let’s All Make That Loud & Clear it’s Up to Each and EVERYONE of US. Thank

I think that your assessment of the Neda video is on the mark. I have been trying to find words for what I felt and your response encapsulated it to the point that I said to myself, “Yeah… that’s EXACTLY how I felt.” The fact that I witnessed her death made my voyeurism all the more stomach churning. I’m deeply affected by the death of Neda on video. On the one hand I feel like a voyeur to a moment most intimate. On the other hand this video may be the most effective means of conveying the black heart of the so-called Islamic Republic of Iran.

I’ve seen death in real life, yet this is almost too much to bear. The way she looks at the camera makes me feel like she’s looking me in the eye. Like she’s imploring me to do something. Or imploring me to look away.

The death of Neda is now film as history, like Zapruder’s film of the JFK assassination. Its more than just a record of history, it will define history. Irrespective of whether the protesters succeed or not, she’ll always remain emblematic of the struggle. The West will either see her as a martyr to change or fascism.
